Turks & Caicos Information

Visa to Turks & Caicos

  • Travel insurance, pre-travel authorisation, and a negative COVID-19 test are NO longer required to enter the country.
  • All travellers above 18 years of age must present proof that they are FULLY vaccinated against COVID-19 to the local officials and their airline agent upon arrival.
  • Travellers with a valid UK Tourist or Resident Visa, US Tourist or Resident Visa (including Green Card or an H-1B work visa), and Canadian Tourist Visa or Resident Visa do NOT need a Turks & Caicos Visa.
  • Travellers coming from countries that need a visa to enter the country need to fulfill the same requirements for transit. This is because transit through the Turks & Caicos Islands requires them to exit customs and immigration at Providenciales International Airport (PLS) before they can get on their connecting flight.
  • The Turks & Caicos Islands is NOT a sovereign nation. For that reason, it has British Overseas Territories Citizenship, along with 13 British Overseas Territories with whom it shares the same nationality.
  • Visitors to the Turks & Caicos Islands are granted a stay for up to 90 days. If you wish to extend the duration of your stay, you can visit an Immigration Department office and apply for a visa extension.
  • If you have a tourist stamp, you can NOT work in Turks & Caicos Islands.

Nationals of the following countries are not required to have a visa to visit the Turks & Caicos Islands. However, since visa regulations tend to change frequently, it is advised to make sure you confirm whether your country remains visa-exempt with your booking agent. For instance, countries such as Macau, Niue, Ukraine, Russia, and Nigeria were previously not required to get a visa to enter the country, but are now removed from the list of visa-exempt countries. Alternatively, you could contact the Turks & Caicos Islands Government for more visa-related information at (649) 946-2801.

Under some circumstances (e.g. you are travelling with specific cruise lines), you might be allowed to use your Enhanced Driver’s Licence issued by a US state or Canadian province to enter the Turks & Caicos Islands. Such licences include the bearer’s nationality. The downside with these types of ID is that you won’t be able to fly home with an Enhanced Driver’s Licence if you miss your cruise ship. For that reason, it is highly recommended you always have a valid passport with you. You can get more information about this matter by contacting the US Consular Agency at the United States Consular Agency | Visit Turks and Caicos Islands (visittci.com). You may also check out this list with consulates and embassies: Embassies and Consulates | Visit Turks and Caicos Islands (visittci.com).

As soon as you reach a country’s port of entry, you will need to complete an immigration form. This applies to each individual travelling with you as well. Once completed, the form will have to be presented to an immigration officer. You can view the needed form here: turks-and-caicos-immigration-arrival-form.pdf (visittci.com).

Right after you are through with Immigration, you will have to clear Customs. Kindly note that you can bring the following to the country duty-free (applies to individuals over 17 years old):

  • $600 of items of gifts purchased for non-commercial use that will remain in the Turks & Caicos Islands.
  • 2 litres (67.6 ounces) of wine, as long as they contain less than 42% alcohol by volume OR 1 litre (33.8 ounces) of spirits.
  • 0.25 litres (8.4 ounces) of eau de toilette OR 230 grams (1.7 ounces) of perfume.
  • 126 grams (4.4 ounces) of tobacco OR 50 cigars OR 200 cigarettes.
  • Personal goods of a reasonable amount.

Books, basic food products, and other goods are exempt from the normal duty rates of around 30% that apply to all goods over your allowance. If you have exceeded the duty-free allowance, the head of the family will have to complete a customs form that you can see here: turks-and-caicos-customs-form-c105.pdf (visittci.com). If you are visiting the country with friends, each person exceeding the duty-free allowance will be called to complete their own customs declaration form. As for items, such as certain drugs and weapons are strictly prohibited.

Important Note: Please note that home-printed copies of any of the forms provided above are NOT accepted. The official forms must be completed on card stock. So, the above links only provide you with the required form for your viewing convenience only. The Immigration official and your airline will provide you with copies of the needed form or forms.

Upon arrival in the country, you must show a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after you leave the Turks & Caicos Islands. You must also present a valid return or onward ticket.

To get a Turks & Caicos Islands visa issued, you will be asked the following:

  • A fully completed Application Form (you can download it from here: Visa Application Form.pdf).
  • Two Certified by a Justice of the Peace photographs.
  • A valid passport for 180 days before the Expiration Date.
  • A Current Police Record in English (should be translated into English if it is not) from the Country of Origin.
  • Bank Reference Letter on your behalf (the original letter).
  • A certified copy of Surety’s ID.
  • Evidence of Surety Legal Status in Turks & Caicos Islands.
  • Parents’ Legal Status (in case of a minor visiting the country without their parents).
  • Job letter (if visiting the country for business purposes).

The administrative fee related to processing your visa application is $100 at the time of this writing and is non-refundable, even if your application is rejected. You will also need to pay an additional $150 upon approval. However, the Director of Immigration has the final say and will approve or decline a visa application.

You must get approval through the Environmental Health Department (EHD) to bring your animal into the country. This can happen only after you receive your Import Permit at least 14 days prior to your travel. Besides the application (you can view it here: Application to Import Cats and Dogs (visittci.com)) that has to be approved no later than one week before your travel, you will also need to have a valid certificate from a veterinarian in your country. If it is not in English, you should translate and notarise it. Finally, a $50 fee per animal has to be paid upon arrival.
