Visa to Anguilla

Anguilla belongs to the British Overseas Territories, which gives the country the right to create regulations concerning immigration. This includes their visa policy, which differs from the one that applies in the United Kingdom, and even forbids UK residents to live in Anguilla freely.

To enter Anguilla, a visa is a prerequisite for many visitors, on top of the country’s Entry Program explicitly initiated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, not all visitors are required to apply for an Anguilla visa to come to the country.

Visitors from the USA and those holding a British passport can enter the country and spend up to 90 days in it without needing a visa. Most travellers must apply for a visa to visit the country. In contrast, nationals of specific countries should possess an Anguilla visa even if they want to transit through the country.

Fortunately, Anguilla has made applying for a visa much easier and faster with the new online portal that has been up and running since January 2021. You no longer need to head to an embassy to obtain your visa – you can apply for an e-Visa Anguilla online here: Home - eVisaPortal (gov.ai).

A single entry visa is the most popular and common type of Anguilla visa that enables travellers to stay up to three months in the country, whether for business or leisure purposes and requires around 8-10 days for processing. Those applying for this type of visa, though, must take note that their visa should be used within 30 days of its issue date.

Individuals that visit Anguilla often can consider a multiple entry visa. That way, they can enter the country and stay for up to 90 days. This type of visa is valid for an entire year and is processed within about eight days.

Applying for approval to travel to Anguilla should be done before your visit (including children). The process begins with completing an online application. It does not matter whether you will visit the island as a digital nomad (hence, for a longer duration), on a business stay, or on a short vacation. As soon as you complete the online form, you will receive a reply within 1-2 business days.

Kindly note that there is a fee related to the Anguilla visa application, which has to be paid after your visa is approved and depends on the type of Anguilla trip you are planning. The fee covers public health presence costs, surveillance, and the two required tests in the country and is:

  • $300 for individuals planning a short stay (up to 5 days), which increases by $100 for stays up to 90 days.
  • Couples with a short stay (up to 5 days) in mind will need to pay $500, which, too, increases by $100 for an extended stay (always up to three months).
  • The family package is $500 for a short stay (for the couple) and $250 for each dependent/child. For visits up to 90 days, a family is called to pay $600 (the couple) plus $250 per dependent/child.
  • Groups of people – the same as with a family.

Once you fill out and send your online application for an Anguilla visa, a concierge will be assigned to you, who will help you with the application steps. Approving your visa can take up to one month, so starting your application at least 30-60 days before your planned stay is strongly recommended. To complete the procedure successfully and within the shortest possible time, please reply to all of their email messages. The representative will give you a pre-approval if all checks out, so you can start planning your Anguilla trip (i.e., book your flight, accommodation, etc.).

Note: If you wish to speed up your visa application process (i.e., you want to travel to the country for an emergency), you can head to the nearest embassy and pay a rush fee.

Your (valid) passport is required when applying for a visa through the embassy. Just ensure it has an empty page for your visa. Among the documents you will be called to present (to both the embassy and the Anguilla immigration upon arrival) are:

  • Documentation showing why you want to visit Anguilla.
  • Proof of your return airline ticket.
  • Proof of sufficient funds.
  • Proof of Anguilla accommodations for the duration of your visit.
  • Valid green card and passport (applies to US Green card holders).
  • A Direct Airside Transit Visa or Visa (for nationals coming from specific countries - please check this list: https://ivisitanguilla.com/docs/Visa_Requirements_for_Anguilla_Revised_January_2020.pdf).

You can get more details and information regarding the visa application procedure relevant to your respective country by visiting the UK Visas and Immigration website (UK Visas and Immigration - GOV.UK).
