"Sweet, Sweet T&T" Trinidad and Tobago is a twin island republic located off the northeast coast of Venezuela with a biological diversity, unlike most Caribbean islands. An alluring combination of culture and eco-adventure promises an experience that few other destinations can replicate.
Trinidad, the larger of the two islands is known for its unique food, multicultural diversity, vibrant nightlife and the annual hosting of one of the most renowned carnivals in the world.
Its sister island is the polar opposite. Referred to by many as "the true Caribbean," Tobago is known for its peaceful ease of life and its beautiful beaches.
Both Trinidad and Tobago were originally settled by Amerindians of South American origin. Before that, at least 7,000 years ago, Trinidad was inhabited by pre-agricultural archaic people making it the earliest settled part of the Caribbean.
Tobago changed hands between Spanish, British, French, Dutch and Colander colonizers. These European influences are reflected in the names of cities and places throughout the islands.
